For oilier or more congested skin, I often recommend using it as a dry cleanse on areas with congestion or texture by applying it onto dry skin first and massaging it in for 20–30 seconds before adding water and spreading the cleanser around. Quiet Wash is a gentle, non-active cleanser designed for very sensitive, reactive, and compromised skin that needs barrier support and nothing more at the cleansing step. Clarify Wash is the active option, formulated with mandelic acid, fruit enzymes, vitamin C, and licorice root for oily, congested, acne-prone, and dull skin that needs the cleansing step to address specific concerns. If your skin is currently healthy and you want to maintain and improve it, Clarify Wash is the right choice. If your skin is in a reactive or compromised state, Quiet Wash is where to start.
Yes, with the right expectations. It contains mandelic acid and exfoliating actives, but the supporting formula includes gluconolactone, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin that maintain hydration and barrier comfort throughout the cleanse. Sensitive skin that is not currently reactive or compromised can typically tolerate it well. Those with very reactive or rosacea-prone skin should introduce it gradually, starting with once daily use before moving to twice daily.
For light daily exfoliation, yes. The mandelic acid, gluconolactone, and fruit enzymes in the formula provide a consistent daily resurfacing that reduces the need for a separate exfoliant on most days. Yes. It carries a light, fresh citrus and botanical scent from clementine peel oil, lavender, and vanilla extract, all of which are naturally occurring botanical ingredients in the formula. There are no added synthetic fragrances. The scent is subtle and fades quickly during rinsing.
Yes. Using Clarify Wash as your morning and evening cleanser alongside a nighttime retinoid is a well-tolerated combination for most skin types. Because the contact time of a cleanser is short, the acid content does not compete with your retinoid. If your skin is adjusting to a new retinoid and feeling reactive, switch to Quiet Wash temporarily until skin has stabilized.
